下課午餐時間縮減華州9歲童發動連署

西雅圖地區1所小學日前宣布，由於教學時間不足，學生午餐與下課休息時間（recess）各須縮減5分鐘。1名就讀3年級的9歲男童發動連署向校方陳情，短短幾天獲百餘名同學響應。

就讀惠特爾小學（Whittier Elementary）3年級的阿姆斯壯（Alex Armstrong），因為發動學童連署向學校陳情，還在同學之間組成「休息時間軍隊」（Recess Army），大力奔走爭取社區民眾支持，近日成為媒體報導焦點。

9歲的阿姆斯壯接受訪問時說，發動陳情以來，已經有超過100名學生參加連署，現在還有同學仍在募集連署簽名。

由於教學時間未達西雅圖公立學區頒布的標準，惠特爾小學日前宣布，下課休息時間與午餐都必須各自從原本的20分鐘，縮短為只有15分鐘。

阿姆斯壯說，下課時間太短，小朋友們玩不過癮，精力無處消耗，變成上課時坐不住，「我也沒時間把午餐吃完」。
